BEST PAPER AWARD

The Best Paper Award recognizes the foremost contribution among all papers submitted to the workshop. Finalists are shortlisted based on the review process results, with a dedicated jury selecting the winner based on technical excellence, originality, and impact on the field. To be eligible, the paper must be presented live at the workshop.

 

BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD

The Best Student Paper Award recognizes excellence in research for papers primarily authored by a student. To be eligible, interested students must submit a formal application (see Rules and Procedures below) and the paper must be presented live at the workshop.

 

BEST POSTER AWARD

The Best Poster Award recognizes the most outstanding visual and technical presentation among all posters presented live at the workshop, taking into account research excellence alongside clear and engaging communication.

 

STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS

The IEEE Electronics Packaging Society, a SPI 2026 Sponsor, is pleased to provide a special Travel Grant to two students presenting their work at the workshop. The Grants are intended to support the costs directly tied to the event’s attendance, with reimbursements up to the limits of 1600 USD for students from European institutions and 2450 USD for students from non-European institutions.

Important Information for Winners

All winners will be announced during the workshop’s Gala Dinner. Attendance is mandatory to receive an award; should a winner be absent, the award will be forfeited. The Best Student Paper and the Travel Grants can be cumulative. Instructions to request the Travel Grants reimbursement will be provided after the workshop ends.

 


Rules and Procedures for
Best Student Paper Award & EPS Student Travel Grants

Eligibility

Student applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution in a graduate degree program (Masters or Doctoral)
• Be the primarily author and presenter of an accepted paper (oral or poster)
• Register until the Early Bird Deadline with a Student fee (IEEE member or non-member), providing proof of student status

How to Apply

Following a successful Notification of Acceptance, and no later than the Early Bird registration deadline, interested students may submit their application via email to the Workshop Secretariat. The email should be sent with the subject Student Award & Grants Application and must include the following information:
• Applicant’s full name
• Title of the accepted paper
• Nomination letter (1-page, PDF format) from the applicant’s advisor or from a professor certifying that the accepted paper is primarily the student’s work

Winners Selection

In the event of a high volume of applicants, a shortlist of finalists will be established based on the review process results. To remain eligible, applicants/finalists must attend the workshop and deliver a live presentation of their work. A dedicated jury panel will attend each student’s session to evaluate the overall quality of the presentation and the clarity in replying to questions from the audience. The final winners selection will be made taking into account both the live performance and the review process results, which considers technical excellence, originality, and the paper’s potential impact on the field.
